Welcome back to Term 4. I hope the holidays brought rest and renewal for you and your family, and you were able to enjoy the beautiful spring weather.
Thank you for your warm welcome to St Finbarr’s. I look forward to my time in Quilpie, to meeting the community, and most importantly, to support your children’s learning between now and the end of 2026. As we begin the final term of 2025, there’s a wonderful sense of energy and anticipation across our school.
Please feel free to pop in and say hello anytime. I’m looking forward to continuing to meet all of the school families.
Best wishes,
Kathy

If you have specific events that you would like your child/children to participate in, could you please advise your class teacher. We will be adding names to events and submitting them by Friday 31 October. Students are able to withdraw from a race on the day of the carnival, but no additions are able to be made on that day.
Student Protection and Day for Daniel
This term, in our Health & Physical Education lessons, we focus on student protection strategies that they can use to help them and others to stay safe both off-line and online. We use a variety of resources in this teaching, including Real Talk and the Daniel Morcombe curriculum.
On Friday 31 October, we will be joining many schools across Queensland and Australia for the Day for Daniel. We invite students to wear the colour red and to bring along a gold coin donation. Our donations will be passed on to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation to support their work in helping to educate students in how to stay safe in the community and online.
St Finbarr’s Strategic Plan 2025 - 2028
It is exciting to launch our Strategic Plan that will take us through to the end of 2028. This plan was built from the feedback in last year’s SRIP (School Renewal and Improvement Process). From this plan, we will build an AAP (Annual Action Plan) each year to ensure we meet our lofty strategic goals.

For Reflection
For Reflection
As we head into the busy-ness that is the end of the year, both at school and in our personal lives, let’s take a moment to breathe and remember that our God is always with us – through the challenges and the joys.
All who are Heavy Laden
In this era of conflicts and mountainous problems, we know what it is to labour and be heavy laden.
You have called us to go out into all the world and immerse all nations in the gospel of love.
We have tried, Lord and have become tattered and tired, despondent, even a bit cynical.
We, the heavy laden, come to you, Lord, needing your rest.
As the native hen nests in the clumps of tussocks at the edge of quiet waters, so give us a nesting place in the quiet places of your kingdom.
That our hope may be renewed as your mothering Spirit broods over us, protecting us through every dark night of the soul,
Until morning comes again and we are renewed – as if born again – to learn from you the holy way that leads to life for all humanity.
Amen.

Scholastic Book Club
Orders due back Monday 27th October, you can return your order form with money to school or order online thru loop.
Don't forget as the weather warms up, we have a good supply of school uniforms, shorts, skorts and vests for those in-between days. Just go to the Office and they will sort you out.
In line with the diocese’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility, reducing waste, and managing costs, they are continuing to review how Horizons is distributed across the diocese, especially schools. TCSO has also highlighted a growing emphasis on digital communication within school communities.
Many schools have already embraced the digital version of Horizons, available at www.twb.catholic.org.au/horizons/, and have either significantly reduced or completely ceased receiving printed copies.
Following this trend and as per advice from TCSO, they will no longer be sending printed copies to primary schools by default. This will come into effect for the issue out in September.

St Finbarr's Student Protection Contacts
It is a legislative requirement that all non-state schools have at least two nominated staff members to whom a student can report the behaviour of another staff member that the student considers inappropriate. We call these specially trained staff members School Student Protection Contacts, or SSPCs. Each SSPC has been nominated by the principal in recognition of their integrity, approachability and knowledge in the area of student protection. Whilst students are encouraged to speak up to any trusted adult in the school community, it is important that they know they can access these specific staff members at any time should they have worries, queries or concerns. You will have noticed posters throughout the school depicting our current SSPCs. The SSPCs are also published on our school website along with information about our student protection processes. In everything we do at St Finbarr's student safety is our highest priority, therefore the SSPCs at our school are key personnel in our overall safeguarding processes. Please see the poster depicting our current SSPC team.
