Dear Parents, families, and friends, Welcome to our second last newsletter for the year. I am in disbelief of how fast the year as flown by. It has been a jam packed year. Gr 3-6 News
The countdown is on. Life in Grade 3-6 is busy, and we are all working hard to ensure we finish off the year well. In English, we have just wrapped up out personal projects and spent the week presenting them to the class. A range of interests were presented and lots of information was shared. It was interesting to see the topics chosen, from Ned Kelly, to the Dassault Mirage fighter jet, to the footwear; Crocs – diverse and interesting topics.
The students have also begun to construct their end of year and house captain speeches, in preparation for the Award’s Night and the house captain assembly. Please keep Wednesday, 22nd November at 8:45am free to join us for our special house captain assembly. This assembly will allow the G3-5 students a chance to address the St. Finbarr’s community and pitch themselves as awesome house captain material.
Within Maths, we have been focusing on allowing the students the opportunity to use all the knowledge and skills they have developed this year to solve a variety of math word problems. Additionally, students have just completed their end of year math review and it is pleasing to see the development of our students.
Lastly, the students have been working up a sweat practising their end of year dance. Students are developing an appreciation for the importance of keeping to the beat and moving in the same direction. We will be amazing by the Award’s Night.
Wednesday 22nd, 8.45am House Captain Speeches

St Finbarr's Student Protection Contacts
It is a legislative requirement that all non-state schools have at least two nominated staff members to whom a student can report the behaviour of another staff member that the student considers inappropriate. We call these specially trained staff members School Student Protection Contacts, or SSPCs. Each SSPC has been nominated by the principal in recognition of their integrity, approachability and knowledge in the area of student protection. Whilst students are encouraged to speak up to any trusted adult in the school community, it is important that they know they can access these specific staff members at any time should they have worries, queries or concerns. You will have noticed posters throughout the school depicting our current SSPCs. The SSPCs are also published on our school website along with information about our student protection processes. In everything we do at St Finbarr's student safety is our highest priority, therefore the SSPCs at our school are key personnel in our overall safeguarding processes. Please see the poster depicting our current SSPC team.
